Indian Hotels NOT refunding MONEY (1 comments)

2010-01-06 10:38:50 Posted by Guest

Am posting an email I had sent to Indian Hotels re a refund of Rs 3,000 NOW overdue by THREE MONTHS - to this email I got a response asking me for full bank details to enable them to refund the money!!! - Read the email to find out why this request it totally UNREASONABLE. Is this HOW TTATA makes it money?????

Subject: Re 20 Warrants' Application Refund

Dear Margaret,

We just spoke on the phone regarding the matter of the Indian Hotels Warrants of which I had held 20 (since 15-May-08) and which I applied for conversion on 19-Sept-09 together with a cheque for Rs 3,000 drawn on my HDFC Bank Account No 00691000102902 Ashram Road Branch. Ahmedabad. This cheque was encashed by Indian Hotels (with the money transferred out of the above account on 22-Sept-09).

As you explained, however my application was rejected since I had not completed the formality to effect the transfer of these warrants into the designated enscrow account. Thereafter Indian Hotels tried to reaccredited this amount into my HDFC account, which did not take place because the HDFC Bank did not accept the deposit, but instead issued a cheque/draft drawn in my name and sent it to Indian Hotels. This cheque/draft was then posted by you by registered mail together with a letter to my postal address (on your records and which I confirm is correct) on 12-Nov-09, but which was returned to you as "not deliverable".

As I explained on the phone I find it difficult to understand why the HDFC would NOT accept a deposit of Rs 3,000 into my account and instead choose to issue a cheque/draft for you to forward to me/my postal address. Since my Bank Account Details given in the Warrant Exercise Application Form are correct (as above), I find it very difficult to appreciate how or why HDFC had taken such a decision was I write I am asking them to investigate this matter).

Last but not least I must say I a bit taken aback by the pretty laid back attitude of Indian Hotels regarding this matter. While you send me any number of emails with enticing special rates/offers,etc, it seems it was not feasible to send me a simple email explaining why my Warrant Exercise Application was being rejected or that my bank has refused to accept a deposit into my account (and instead issued a cheque/draft in my favour). Also if my application was clearly at fault then surely the best thing to do would have been to NOT encash my cheque. That way it could have been returned with a cover letter (with involving HDFC) and if that had not been delivered at least I would have not had to spend so much time and effort in recovering the funds.

As agreed I NOW would like you to send me copies of the letter you had sent on the 12-Nov-09 and copy of the cheque/draft issue to by HDFC, after which perhaps Indian Hotel would consider DEPOSITING the cheque/draft into my account DIRECTLY (at a branch in Mumbai) rather than once more rely on the pathetic Indian Postal (Di)Services. Thank You.

With best regards

Dr Mukesh Patel

PS Please with forward this email to Taj Hotel's Investors' Grievance/Complaints department or send me their contact information so that I can do so.
