
Mr. N.C.Singhal was the VC & MD of The Shipping Credit & Investment Corporation of India Limited (since merged with the ICICI). SCICI, established as a specialized financial institution for the development of shipping industry, grew into a premier financial institution for industrial development in the country. Prior to SCICI, Mr. Singhal was a senior executive and then a member of the Board of Directors of ICICI Limited. The Government of India deputed him as a Banking Expert to the Industrial Development Bank of Afghanistan, for the World Bank project. He also worked as a Consultant and Management Specialist with the Asian Development Bank in Philippines, South Korea, Pakistan and Uzbekistan. Mr. Singhal has been a member of several committees of the Government of India and financial institutions for framing policies for the development of industry and infrastructure.
He is a member of the Advisory Board of the International Maritime Bureau, London, and was the VC of the Commission on Maritime Transport of the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris. Currently, he is non-executive Chairman/Director of banking, finance, mutual fund, power generation, manufacturing and shipping companies; and member of the Board of Governors of professional institutions. Mr. Singhal holds postgraduate qualifications in Economics, Statistics and Administration, and was awarded the United Nations Development Programme Fellowship for advanced studies in the field of project formulation and evaluation, in Moscow and St. Petersburg. He received specially structured professional training in development banking at the World Bank, Washington D.C. and Kreditenstalt fur Wiederaufbau, Frankfurt.
