Mithun Chakraborty graduated from Scottish Church College, Calcutta. He later on graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India. In 1976 he made his film debut in the Mrinal Sen directed film Mrigaya for which he won the coveted National Film Award for Best Actor.Mithun is married to actress Yogita Bali and has four children, three sons and one daughter. His eldest son, Mimoh Chakraborty is an upcoming actor whose debut film is scheduled to be launched in 2008.
