Dr K A Hamied set up The Chemical, Industrial and Pharmaceutical Laboratories Ltd. (Cipla) in a rented bungalow, at Bombay Central. In 1952, the company set up first research division for attaining self-sufficiency in technological development. US FDA approved Cipla`s bulk drug manufacturing facilities in 1985.
