Originally from Punjab, Ajay Devgan was born in Delhi on April 2, 1969. His father is Veeru Devgan, a stunt choreographer and his mother's name is Veena. His brother, Anil, is a Bollywood film director. He graduated from Mithibai College. He married actress Kajol on February 24, 1999. They have one daughter, Nysa, born on April 20, 2003. Ajay Devgan made his debut in the film Phool Aur Kaante (1991) for which he won the Filmfare Best Debut Award.
