Aftab Shivdasani did his schooling from St Xavier's High School and later graduated from HR College of Commerce in Mumbai. As a fairly well known child star he appeared in films such as Mr India, Shahenshah and Chaalbaaz. His debut as an adult was in 1999 opposite Urmila Matondkar in Mast. The movie fetched him the Filmfare Award for Best Newcomer in 2000. His next film Kasoor with Lisa Ray was a thriller in which he adopted a negative role. Aftab's other films include Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche, Footpath, Awara Paagal Deewana and Darna Mana Hai. In 2003, Aftab starred in the super hit comedy Hungama.
