Abhay Deol apparently was hesitant to get into films because his uncle Dharmendra and his cousins Sunny and Bobby Deol were famous in Bollywood. But once he turned 18, he decided he would take up acting professionally. However he decided to complete his education and then try his luck. Abhay Deol's father Ajit Singh Deol was also a producer and director.
